Hardscaping that's still flat in ten years.
Led by Connor Reilly, our hard landscaping foreman. Proper falls, proper sub-base, proper materials — built to be walked on for decades, not one summer.
Most patio problems
start before the first slab goes down.
A patio that cracks, sinks or holds puddles almost always went wrong at the sub-base — not the paving. We excavate to the right depth, compact a proper MOT type 1 sub-base, and set every fall so water runs away from the house, not towards it.
Then we choose materials that actually suit the house and the garden around it, not whatever's cheapest that week. It's slower and it costs more up front. It's also why our patios are still flat and draining properly a decade on, instead of needing re-laying after two winters.

Cracked, uneven concrete slabs replaced with an Indian sandstone terrace on a fully rebuilt sub-base. Romsey, four weeks.
Nothing skipped, nothing hidden.
Excavation & correct sub-baseDug out to proper depth and rebuilt with compacted MOT type 1 hardcore — the part nobody sees, and the part that matters most.
Proper drainage fallsEvery surface set with a calculated fall away from the house, so water goes where it's supposed to, not into your damp course.
Choice of materialsIndian sandstone, porcelain, natural stone or brick paths — whatever suits the house, the budget and how the space gets used.
Edging & finishingCrisp, consistent edges and pointing that's done properly the first time, not patched up after the fact.
A written guarantee on workmanshipEvery hardscaping project comes with a written guarantee covering our workmanship, not just the materials.
Choose what suits the house.
Indian Sandstone
Natural riven texture and warm tones — the most popular choice for traditional and cottage gardens.
Porcelain Paving
Low-maintenance, frost-proof and consistent — a clean, contemporary finish that barely weathers.
Natural Stone Walling
Hand-built retaining and boundary walls in local stone, for sloped gardens and level changes.
Brick & Block Paving
Classic herringbone or stack-bond paths and driveways, built to take regular foot and vehicle traffic.
